Golden Hour at Lake Erie

I've heard it said that time is a thief and looking at these photos I'd have to say there's something to that.  Nine years ago, I started my first year teaching kindergarten and her oldest was sitting in the K class down the hall. A few years later, during the pandemic, I was fortunate to have her youngest in my class. Now, they're both nearly grown. It doesn't feel like that long ago, but time is marked differently with kids. It all goes by so fast. Every session with them is a gentle reminder of how fleeting—and how beautiful—time is.

This evening at Lake Erie felt like pure magic. The sun was dipping low, casting golden hues across the water, and the girls didn’t hesitate to kick off their shoes and get a little wet. Their laughter mingled with the waves as we soaked in the last glow of summer. They even treated me to my first BIBIBOP bowl!

Moments like these aren’t just about photos—they’re about pausing, noticing, and celebrating life in this season. Watching this family embrace the water, the light, and each other reminded me why I love what I do: capturing the ordinary, the fleeting, and the simple moments that become beautiful memories.

To the family—thank you for letting me be a part of your story and for trusting me to preserve these golden hours. I'm so thankful for your family.
